Apollo 9

Just like Apollo 9 was designated as a training event for the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, we have created this event as a training race to help you stay on track with your goals and get you ready for the main event in the Moon Landing Race Series later in 2019 (Moon Landing Race in July).

Apollo 9 was a monumental mission that helped prepare for the eventual moon landing later in 1969. Spending several days in low Earth orbit, astronauts performed critical tests with the command and service module and the lunar module. The 3-person crew spent 10 days in orbit testing vital aspects of landing on the surface of the Moon, including the LM engines, backpack life support, navigation and docking systems.

All tests were deemed successful. Once you complete the Apollo 9 Virtual Race, you too can be successful! :D

You can run, walk or hike this race and do it wherever you want! Sign up now.

Race Date

March 3-13, 2019

Shirt/Bib/Patch Info & Deadlines

  • Register by February 13 & your shirt/bib/patch will arrive by March 13
  • Register after February 13 and your swag will not ship until mid-April
  • NOTE: For those that register after February 6, our first batch of patches is sold out, but we have ordered more. Your patch will not ship until April.

We will place two shirt orders for this event — one before and one after. Everyone that registers for a shirt, bib and/or patch will get it - regardless of whether you finish your race. ALL SHIRTS HAVE THE SAME IMPRINT.

*Note: registrations are a la carte, so you get to choose what swag you want

Finisher Medal Info

Unlike our other races, this event has no finisher medal and is designed to help you stay on track with whatever your goals are.

Add On Options

We are also providing our usual customized printed bibs & patches for this event. One or both of these can be added once you make your registration option selection. Patches are about 3".

NOTE: the registration form says "Sticker" - but it's actually the patch. We have no stickers for this event!

Important Info

The official race day is as listed above. Registration will be open through that day as supplies last.

As far as we’re concerned, race day is as listed above and we anticipate that most people will race that day - BUT - the advantage of having a virtual race is you can do it when and where works best for you. So it’s up to you. Because we strive to honor the tradition of in-person races, you’ll receive messages as if that is race day for you, but just know that we’re okay with it if you need to do something different.

We're honored to be partnering with Celestron again for our Space Race Series. A portion of each registration will be donated to the National Park Foundation.

Boring Yet Important Notes: 1) All swag usually ships separately and all timelines are based on US Domestic shipping via the USPS. 2) In rare cases where the shirt style/color we list is out of stock, the next closest color will automatically be substituted for you. 3) If you intend on registering more than one person for this race, please add them to your account BEFORE you register yourself. You can do that in "Profile" once you're logged in. Watch this video to see how this is done. 4) For our US Territory friends, on your address, please list your two-letter country code in "State" and then "United States" in the country field. (AS, GU, MP, FM, PR, VI, MH).
